What I'm Loving | 12/3/2017
Getting back to 'real life' after a holiday week is always such a struggle! I didn't find any great Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals, but that's probably for the best since I don't need anything anyway. I did make a wonderful batch of 5 ingredient biscuits with my leftover whipping cream from Thanksgiving, and I also put a batch of Alton Brown's aged eggnog in the back of the fridge for holiday festivities.
We went to a tree lighting on Friday and a Christmas lights festival on Saturday, and I found this list of SF's ultimate holiday events so we're right on track to have a magical December. It really is the most wonderful time of the year!
Here's what I'm loving lately:
Books :: I thought The Help would take me awhile due to the length of the book, but once the plot started to thicken I was obsessed with knowing what would happen. I've seen the movie but it was ages ago, so I was fuzzy on a lot of the details and it was like rediscovering the whole thing! I read Eat, Pray, Love next, which is another "why have I not read this" novel. Being as interested in travel and other cultures as I am, it was a great chance to get someone's perspective on living as an expat for an extended time. I'm now starting in on The Diary of a Young Girl which my Christian homeschooling somehow never required me to read.
Listening :: Drunk Safari Podcast. This was started by the same people who record the Let's Not Panic podcast I love, and while this is a totally different direction it's so entertaining. It's basically just what the name implies, where they have a few drinks and share fun facts about a few animals. It kept me company through all of my Thanksgiving baking, and I'm finally getting semi-caught up to the most recent ones.
Spare Time :: I took a photography class this week, which was a great time investment! I've had my camera since the summer and I've loved playing with it, but I got sick of having so many unanswered questions about the various functions. I found a deal on a local class another blogger recommended, and I'm so glad I took the time to do it.
Style :: Target's holiday dresses! I saw a few of these on the rack when we had to run for cleaning supplies last week, and I love them. I don't have a lot of winter dresses so I want them all...especially in velvet.
